U.S. Ambassador Cameron Hume (Ret.) Joins JWI’s Africa Advisory Board

Former U.S. Ambassador to Algeria, South Africa, Indonesia Represented U.S. in Mozambique Peace Talks

Jefferson Waterman International is pleased to announce that Ambassador Cameron Hume (Ret.) will be joining the JWI Africa Advisory Board. The Board, composed of U.S. diplomatic, military, and finance leaders with high-level experience in Africa, provides support for JWI’s political and business consulting services for its African clients. Ambassador Hume was a member of the U.S. Foreign Service for 40 years, serving as Ambassador to Algeria, South Africa and Indonesia. In addition, he was Chief of Mission in Khartoum, Sudan, and represented the U.S. at peace talks that ended Mozambique’s civil war.

Ambassador Hume’s extensive experience in Africa also includes a Foreign Service assignment in Tunisia, several missions related to conflicts in central Africa, and Peace Corps service in Libya. The U.S. State Department honored Ambassador Hume’s service with three Superior Honor Awards and a Distinguished Service Award.

“Ambassador Hume brings decades of diplomatic and conflict resolution experience in nations across the African continent,” says Ambassador Jackson McDonald (Ret.), President of JWI. “His membership on the JWI Africa Advisory Board well serves our African clients’ interests and their ability to address diverse political and development issues.”

Ambassador Hume has been a guest scholar at the U.S. Institute of Peace and a senior fellow at Harvard University, and he now teaches at Georgetown University. Ambassador Hume is a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and the state of New York, and has published three books and numerous articles on international affairs. Ambassador Hume is a graduate of Princeton University and the American University School of Law.
